The National Park Service seeks the completion of a historic resource study (HRS) for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Bayfield, Wisconsin. A HRS provides a historical overview of a park area and identifies and evaluates a park's cultural resources within regional and national historic contexts. The study will help complete the basic documentation of the park's story and resources by providing a synthesis of primary and secondary source material pertinent to the Lakeshore. The information contained in the historic resource study is essential for present and future interpretation and cultural resource management. This study involves the collection, evaluation, synthesis, and presentation of data and research findings on the history themes and historic resources of Apostle Islands. It shall include an introduction of the park's location, topography, purpose, significance, and purpose of the study and historical narrative tracing patterns of land use that resulted from human occupation and use of the Apostle Islands.
