The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7, intends to award a sole source procurement to Wildlife Conservation Society, to perform avian influenza sampling and testing of migratory birds at the coast of Teshekpuk Lake Special Area. The contractor will collect oral pharyngeal, cloacal, and fecal samples from up to 25 Dunlin, 5 Pectoral Sandpipers, and 5 Ruddy Turnstones for avian influenza. All captured birds will be aged, swabbed for actively shedding avian influenza virus, measured, banded, and released in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the National Wildlife Health Center protocols for Asian H5N1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitve proposals and the Government does not intend to accept proposals received. Award will be made 15 calendar days after publication of this notice.
