Avian Influenza Vaccine, H5 Subtype, for use in One-Day-Old Chickens, for the National Veterinary Stockpile (NVS)

To provide the National Veterinary Stockpile sufficient supplies of hemagglutinin subtype 5 (H5) avian influenza (AI) vaccine, suitable for use in one-day-old chickens. The goal is to develop sources of an AI vaccine available for delivery anywhere in the United States within 24 hours of order by the NVS. The vaccine must be (1) licensed or licensable by the USDA Center for Veterinary Biologics; (2) suitable for use in an emergency vaccination program able to detect infection in vaccinated animals (DIVA); and (3) suitable for use in one-day-old chickens.
