Statement of Work:
The part-time Attending Veterinarian directs the multi species, Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) accredited, animal research program. The Attending Veterinarian provides strong leadership skills, and is a graduate of an accredited School of Veterinary Medicine. He/She is also licensed to practice Veterinary Medicine in the State of New York, and certified by the Americal College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). Major responsibilities include the following:
1. Oversees all aspects of veterinary care and services.
2. Ensures regulatory compliance.
3. Provides guidance in animal model development.
4. Works with investigators in a variety of disciplines.
5. Performs functions related to the Laboratory's Institutional Animal
Care and Use Committee. (IACIC)
6. Participates in the Life Sciences Directorate training programs.
7. Experienced in conducting scientific research.
8. Uses strong interpersonal and management skills as required for
smooth, compliant operations.
9. Solicits funding from National Institute of Health (NIH) for Brookhaven
National Laboratory facility renovations.
Requirements: A copy of the firms's General Liability Insurance/or Automobile Insurance Certificate is required for on site work.
