The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Acquisition Division-Kansas City office intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Technical Services Laboratory Inc. for 308 Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS)  Fiber Optic Modules for the NOAA National Weather Service Office of Operational Systems located in Silver Spring, MD. 

A Sources Sought notice was posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on June 1, 2016 and closed on June 19, 2016.  No responses were received. 

Justification for Sole Source 

The fiber optic modules being purchased are manufactured solely by Technical Services Laboratory Inc. located in Fort Walton Beach, FL and is the only source of this part due to the proprietary nature of this product. All logistical spares for the ASOS system are required to be identical to the item that was provided with the original equipment.
