The VA Medical Center, Richmond, VA intends to negotiate a sole source commercial item procurement with Apollo Telemedicine, Incorporated for the maintenance and support of the Apollo Telepathology system located at the host site in Richmond and the remote sites at the VA Medical Centers in Fayetteville, NC and Beckley, WVA. This system allows pathologists and laboratories at the various medical centers to communicate with each other and provide state-of-the-art patient care without being at the same location. This proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement and submit quotations no later than Noon, April 25, 2002, local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
