The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Allentown, Inc., 165 Route 526, PO Box 698, Allentown, NJ 08501, for animal containment caging system required for housing ferrets infected with human influenza clinical isolates to prevent cross-contamination/infection of animals and prevent environmental release of virus. Individually HEPA-filtered caging is required for collecting contamination-free biological materials and generation of ferret immune reagents following infection with different influenza isolates. Cage system can be used with minimum modification and are large enough for ferrets. Specifications: All stainless steel 20-cage P/NC IVC rack; 20 Polysulfone Micro-Barrier systems including high-temperature Polysulfone ferret cage, high-temperature external bottle well micro-barrier top with stainless steel cover plate to replace pre-filter, replaceable silicone gasket, locks, two spring-loaded stainless steel exhaust ports, hanging feeder that extends towards the top of the Micro-Barrier top (feeder also has an internal baffle that prevents animal from escaping), and high-temperature clear Polysulfone cardholder; opposite side but rear-mounted vertical plenums; Smart-Pak HEPA-filtered supply blower; Exhaust Pak HEPA-filtered exhaust blower; stainless steel split platforms; Edstrom Easy Lock latching mechanism; Edstrom Industries automatic watering with quick disconnect drinking valves; 8.00” diameter stainless steel casters; row and column identification tags; overall nominal system dimensions (without removable air handler units): 77.250” wide x 34.500” deep x 79.937” high. System holds twenty (20) cages and each cage is individually HEPA-filtered so that cross-contamination to ferrets housed in adjacent cages does not take place. Cage space is 2000 cm(2) and the height is 27cm. Cage configuration is specific to meet current animal space, but maximizes space use in order to generate sufficient reagent numbers and volumes. Only modification necessary is removal of the wire bar lid and replacement with stainless steel access plate in cage lid to allow easy access for refill of food. Each cage has HEPA-filtered-in inlet/exhaust ports which further reduces risk of cross-contamination. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
