Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to retrofit approximately 3 F/A-18E/F aircraft from Lots 26 through 29 with AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars. NAVAIR anticipates to negotiate and award a firm fixed price sole source modification to contract N00019-09-C-0003 with Raytheon Company Space and Airborne Systems (Raytheon), El Segundo, CA. Raytheon is the original designer, developer and manufacturer of the AESA radar for the F/A-18E/F aircraft. As such, Raytheon is the only company with the unique knowledge, experience, special skills, facilities, manufacturing techniques and technical data required to produce the AESA radar.
