The Naval Air Systems Command has a requirement for an engineering change to the AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar for the F/A-18E/F aircraft. The addition of two receiver channels involves adding wiring throughout the system to support an additional receiver and pre-processor in the receiver/excited subrack. The AESA prime integrator is McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of The Boeing Company, St. Louis, MO. The Navy intends to negotiate the engineering change as a sole source firm fixed price modification to the F/A-18E/F production contract with MDC. MDC will be responsible for the non-recurring and recurring engineering changes. Award of the original production contract was made with authority under FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. MDC has the requisite radar knowledge, experience, and technical data required to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and submit technical information and a technical capability statement in response to this notice. Responses without a return address, mailing address, and company telephone number will not be recognized. No phone calls will be accepted. Proprietary data in the responses will be protected where so designated. Offerors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database to be eligible for contract award or payment from any DoD activity. A determination not to compete this proposed effort based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
