The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Region Acquisitions Division-Kansas City office intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Gigacom Inc eight AME Receivers for the WSR-88D Dual-Polarization Program for the NOAA Logistics Branch in Silver Spring, MD.

A Sources Sought Notice was posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on June 20, 2013 and closed on July 1, 2013. No responses were received

During the development of the WSR-88D Dual Polarization upgrade, Gigacom, Inc provided AME Receivers. This part number is manufactured solely by Gigacom, Inc specifically for the use in the AME Assembly installed by Dual Pole. This part is being procured for stock in support of the Dual Pole System. There are no other known sources of supply. The Government does not have sufficient data rights to fully specify the design to another manufacturer.

Any attempt to reproduce this item from any other source other than Gigacom, Inc would require that the government re-qualify the part at considerable cost to the Government whose cost saving could not be recovered using open competition.

Any delay in procuring this part would impact Radar Operations in the event of a failure.
