The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NCIRD/DVD/VG, 1600 Clifton Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA, 30333, hereby announces its intent to issue a sole source purchase order in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 to Allentown,165 Route 526, Allentown, NJ 08501 for the purchase of Negatively pressurized, individually ventilated caging unit required for Animal BSL-3 enhanced biocontainment for ferret antisera production. The equipment in this purchase is the only products that meet the performance requirements of Animal Biosafety Level 3 enhanced containment laboratory protocols and instrumentation for the generation of ferret antisera in a negative pressure individually ventilated caging unit. Due to the nature of the biocontainment level required to work with highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses, a U.S. government Select Agent virus, the sole source acquisition of equipment previously validated to meet quality management systems standards of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is critical to meet safety standards and regulations.
Other related products are not validated to perform under the biosafety and quality management systems guidelines of Influenza Division for the generation of ferret antisera in a negative pressure individually ventilated caging unit.
