AFRL/RXS has a need to provide research, development, test, evaluation, qualification, integration and transition of advanced aerospace coatings technology; provide research on erosion phenomena, develop new test methods and equipment for evaluation and qualification of erosion-resistant materials; and develop advanced corrosion resistant materials and processes (M&P) to better predict the payoff of improved corrosion performance resulting from alternate designs, improved materials, and modified operational environments to enable informed evaluation and substantiated adoption. Components of this work shall be performed onsite and off-site at WPAFB, OH.
Due to the requirement for reliability of data generated under this effort, the program desires the use of accredited processes and equipment. Specifically for competencies involving outer and inner mold line corrosion protection schemes and rain erosion materials, the program requires certification and accreditation to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025. For the other technical competencies, this accreditation is desired, but not required. Furthermore, because of the technologies associated with this program, security requirements shall apply as the contractor will have access to classified information up to and including the SECRET level while performing work. Additionally, there is a classified component of the work performed onsite at WPAFB. The contractor shall have the capability to receive and generate classified materials onsite.
