NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE

INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to the American College of Cardiology - National Cardiovascular Data Registry, 2400 N. Street NW, Washington, DC 20037-1153. The sole source award will be made under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 235 ( c )(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies and Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. A Justification and approval is currently being processed for this requirement. This requirement is intended as a sole source procurement because the American College of Cardiology - National Cardiovascular Data Registry or NCDR, is the only non-governmental entity currently qualified to meet CMS' requirements for purchase of information required for determining whether ICDs are reasonable and necessary for Medicare beneficiaries.

CMS REQUIREMENTS: This procurement will be for the purchase of data from NCDR's ICD registry. CMS will use the data elements linked to patient level claims data to evaluate that the procedure was reasonable and necessary as stated in the criteria established in the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) National Coverage Determination (NCD).

NAICS CODE: The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 611699 (Educational Support Services) and the size standard is $6.0 million dollars.
