Maximum depth of installation will be 400m. The recording instrumentation may be another 200m away on the surface. Five to six sensor packages will be installed in each of 6 boreholes. Current depths are 55m, 100m, 150m, 300m, 395m. An additional sensor will be installed in three holes at 200m. Peak predicted acceleration for the largest explosion we are monitoring will be 7.79g at the 300m closest sensors. All other sensors will see less than 4.25g peak.
The sensors will be installed into 10" uncased boreholes in dry alluvium. Once the sensor is emplaced the hole will be stemmed to ground level with dry fine sand. Trenches will be dug from the top of the hole to the instrumentation trailer and cables bedded in more sand.
Each sensor package should have a tri-axial accelerometer and electronic compass. The final installed orientation of the package should be known to within 2.5degrees.
A determination of Small Business set-aside will be made based on responses received from this notice.
