The US Department of Agricultural (USDA, Agriculture Research Service (ARS) laboratory at Riverside, CA has a requirement for Qty - 1 Applied Biosystems' (AB) Part Number 4400079 - MagMAX Express, 96 Deep Well, Magnetic Particle Processor, 100-240V, which includes instrument, 1 x 96-well deep magnetic head, pre-installed, Mag MAX chemistry scripts, user manual, power cord, software install CD, software user manual, shield plate and screws, heat plate, clear cover, and serial cable. Warranty coverage for parts and labor is required.

In addition to the above, Part Number ZG11SCMME96, AB Assurance Plan for 3 years is required that provides guaranteed 2-business day on-site response, planned maintenance visits, repairs with factory-certified replacement parts, engineer labor and travel included for repair visits, Smart Services - real-time remote instrument monitoring and diagnostics with priority telephone and e-mail access to instrument technical support from AB North America.

The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source AB under authority of FAR 13. The laboratory scientists have spent over a year developing DNA/RNA extraction protocols using the Ambion/AB preparation kits and to change to another device would mean starting the research process again with another brand of preparation kits. Interested companies may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within three business days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
