NASA/GRC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources capable ofdeveloping/providing a Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) power system for potential use inplanetary and deep space applications. The system should be at Technology ReadinessLevel (TRL) of 5 by 2016. The system proposed should be designed to operate using asingle General Purpose Heat Source (GPHS) module as the source of thermal input. Thesystem sought must have a system level energy conversion efficiency greater than 15%, aminimum DC power level of 38 We at 28 VDC output beginning of mission (BOM), a SpecificPower greater than 6 We/kg, a rejection temperature no greater than 350 K, and be capableof operation for a mission lifetime of fourteen years. In addition, the end of mission(EOM) power output must be 85% of the beginning of mission output.Responses to this inquiry should provide a detailed description of the system proposedincluding:1. Overall system description2. Detailed Component level descriptions3. Current Technology Readiness Level (TRL) description4. Plan for TRL advancement to TRL 5 by 20165. Previous similar or identical efforts6. TRL of systems previously producedNo solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation.
