MSFC has determined that the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) will beawarded a purchase order on a sole source basis for their ability to demonstrate acoating process capable of producing nickel titanium multi-layers suitable for neutronsuper mirrors on flat super polished substrate; a process capable of replicating themultilayer coatings from an electroform master.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Janet Appleton (DFI) at [email protected] or fax to(256) 544-6560 no later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 01/19/2011. Suchcapabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determiningwhether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
