The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 6), intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.SC. 253 ( c) (1) FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements to Duke University Genome Sequencing Shared Resource, 119 Biological Sciences, 130 Science Drive, Durham, NC 27708. Duke University Genome Sequencing Shared Resource will provide precise Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) sequencing to perform biomarker studies on blood and brain tissue samples ads part of the CAP (Clinician-Administered) -Genetic and Epigenetic Biomarkers as Alternations of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Diagnosis and Prognosis project. Duke University Genome Sequencing Shared Resource is an established genetics service and maintains the capability to provide genomic study expertise. The sample testing is a continuation for research study Genetic and Epigenetic Alterations as Biomarkers for PTSD Diagnosis . The results of this research revealed that there are no other sources found that are academically affiliated with the Durham VA Medical Center and have the equipment or scientific research expertise to provide the services required for studies that have been described, approved, and funded by the VA Office of Research and Development. This contract allows the VA to maintain ongoing research essential to CAP and PTSD research without contaminating the findings and consulting on the interpretation and analysis of results that cannot be currently performed by the VA. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it can meet the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Wednesday, June 27th, 4:30, EST. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
