The Advanced Tactical Aircraft Protection (PMA-272) Program Office of the Naval Air Systems Command may have a requirement for a Directed Infrared Countermeasures System for integeration in Navy/Marine Corps. helicopters. The overall effort is to be known as the Assualt DIRCM program. This is a separate program from the Strike DIRCM program discussed in the Naval Air Systems Command Sources Sought Notice of 3 November 2005. The Navy is seeking information from industrial sources with capability to develop, test, produce, and support a directed infrared countermeasures system (DIRCM) for Navy/Marine Corps helicopters. The Navy is interested in receiving presentations and a written report from competitive and highly experienced sources with a background in the development of infrared countermeasures and laser warning systems and integration of DIRCM systems into Navy/Marine Corps helicopters. This information will be used to determine the viability and makeup of a Navy Assault DIRCM acquisition program. A detailed request for information (RFI) has been posted at the NAVAIR Homepage.
