THE US ARMY TACOM-PICATINNY HAS A REQUIREMENT FOR A HIH PRESSURE CALORIMETER SYSTEM, WHICH WILL BE USED TO MEASURE THE HEAT OF EXPLOSION, THE HEAT OF COMBUSTION(CALORIFIC VALUE) OF ENERGETIC MATERIALS OR CHEMICALS IN THE FORMS OF SOLIDS OR LIQUIDS. The system will includes high pressure vessels (bombs) which contain the combustion process and materials, and transfer heat generated to a fixed amount of water under well controlled thermal conditions. Components of the system include microprocessor controlled temperature measurement devices as well as pressurizing gas and water control components. The required Calorimeter System bomb must have the capability of operating at high pressure ( at least 3500 psig pressure) with a nominal 2X static safety factor based on hydrostatic testing, i.e.,tested too at least 7000 psig. The bomb must also have the capability of safely handling rapid high temperature burning of energetic materials. The bomb head must be able to accept a pressure transducer port. The calorimeter bomb and associated handling equipment must be interchangeable in use with existing Parr Instrument calorimeter bombs and associated hardware. This requirement will be awarded on a sole source basis to PARR INSTRUMENT COMPANY in Moline IL. See Numbered Note 22
