US ARMY TACOM-Picatinny is conducting Market Research for the redesign of individual and transportation packaging for shoulder-fired 84mm-class munitions for the purpose of rendering the packaged item as an approved Insensitive Munition design. Specific areas of interest are: 1 - to design the double tube such that the plastic wall is armored with thin coarse-meshed metal net as well as modified to reinforce the locking mechanism of the tube cap. This is to prevent fragments from flying beyond 15m during BI, SCO, and FCO (spell out BI, SCO and FCO). 2 - The second packaging option is to re-design the current wooden box and replace it with a sturdier box so at to prevent fragments from flying beyond 15m during BI, SCO, and FCO. Some options include: a) Make the boxes out of steel, as the present US Army metal boxes; b) Armor the wooden boxes by placing a metal mesh on the inside; and, c) Clad the wooden box with sheet metal. Responses should be of less than twenty pages in length, and provide sufficient information to understand the item approach and address the elements cited above. Electronic submissions should be less than twenty pages in length, be MS Office compatible, and contain no active media elements.
