The U.S. Army, REDCOM, CC, Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Navy, Naval Health Research Center, Environmental Health Effects Laboratory (NHRC/EHE Lab) intends to negotiate and award a contract to The Hamner Institutes (Hamner), 6 Davis Dr., Research Triangle park, NC 27709. The contract will be awarded pursuant to 10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Suppliers or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The proposed contract is for a study that will provide bioassay data critical to understanding the impact of sand inhalation by deployed personnel. Hamner is currently engaged in a collaborative, ongoing study of the impact of inhalation exposure. Continuity of data between the ongoing effort and this effort is necessary. Data non-conformity would substantially reduce the value of this study as well as inhibit NHRC EHEs ability to provide a risk assessment for deployed personnel. As such, the contract will be awarded to Hamner.
