The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division China Lake Ca intends to issue a firm-fixed-price contract for finite element modeling on a full and open competition basis. The Government is seeking finite element modeling to improve the existing models of fracture likelihood, fracture orientation, expected fluid flow pathways and critically stressed structure in the Coso Region and the Coso Geothermal field. This will be a two year study yielding the following required products - 1) technical report fully documenting the detailed modeling process, assumptions, calibration methods, and constraints. 2) Documentation of model resulting in - (a) 3D result sets containing the best-fit distributions of stress, strain, displacement, pore pressure, and temperature at the scales of the Coso Geothermal Field, the Coso Range, and the Eastern California Shear Zone. (b) Predictions of changes in the modeled parameters over the earthquake cycles ' 10 to 100 years. (c) Improved d! ata on the multiple scale spatial and temporal evolution of the key relationships between mechanical, fracture, and fluid flow process. Complete description, including the Statement of Work will be available with the Request For Proposal (RFP). The RFP will be issued on or about 23 Dec 05 and be available for viewing and downloading. The RFP will close 30 days after issuance and award is anticipate to be within 45 days after closing date. @http://www.fbo.gov.
