NA U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity intends to issue a contract to develop prophylatic and therapeutic drugs for use by its members on modern battlefields. Fundamental to the drug development process is an ability to determine the identity, pu rity, strength, quality, physical and chemical characteristics, and stability of drug candidates both neat and formulated. The RFP is intended to provide the Division of Experimental Therapeutics with a capability for the complete analysis and characteriz ation of candidate drugs and drug formulations. The analytical, stability, and physical characterization studies to be conducted will, at a minimum, meet the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and the Regulations of the Food and Drug Administration. All studies must be in compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations and be performed in a FDA-licensed facility. The contractor shal be sufficiently flexible so as to be able to study several candidate drugs and drug formul ations simultaneously. The contractor must also be able to respond rapidly to changing priorities. Solicitation number DAMD17-02-R-0020 will be available on or about August 19, 2002. All responsible sources may submit a hard copy bid that will be consid ered. The established price range of this research and development project is $2,179,674.00.
