99--The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspections Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), Austin, Texas, has a requirement for devising and executing of a method whereby the USDA can acquire the necessary biological samples from sheep intended for export to Mexico which can be tested to determine the prevalence of scrapie. The contractor is responsible for purchasing the animals through the local livestock markets, transport them to their slaughter facility and slaughter them at an agreed upon time to ensure that quality samples can be collected. The slaughter facilities shall be within a 50 miles radius of the Texas A&M University Research & Extension Center in San Angelo, TX where the sample collection will take place. Estimated number of animals per week will be between 150 and 200. The contract period is from date of award and continue through September 30, 2002 with the option to renewal for an additional 1 year period. This a fixed price, requirements type contract.
