The National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) of the Office Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking an individual, at least 18 years of age, who is a recent engineering or science graduate (within the last two years) to provide services under a contractual agreement in support of the Engineering Technical Support Center (ETSC). The National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) is the principal entity within EPA and ORD responsible for environmental and engineering risk management research. The ETSC serves as a focal point between researchers and other Agency personnel such as Regional Project Managers (RPMs)and Agency scientists and engineers. The recent graduate will assist with the Waste Site Energy Calculator Remedial Technology Model Development and assist the Director in providing engineering expertise to regional personnel. The recent graduate must be available to work 20 hours/week, if currently pursuing a post-graduate degree, and up to 40 hours/week, as otherwise available. This work is expected to begin approximately mid-September, 2004, and end September, 2005, approximating not more than 1,600 hours over the life of the order. The principal duty station location is the National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Cincinnati, Ohio. The recent graduate may enter the building only during business hours or when a project member is present. The recent graduate shall work in an office environment entailing the operation of office equipment and copiers. The recent graduate should be physically capable of lifting files with an approximate weight of no more than 25 pounds. No overnight travel is required. U.S. citizens are eligible to participate in this program. Non-U.S. citizens may be eligible to participate, depending on their immigration status and the applicable regulations of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service (BCIS,) formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Students or recent graduates who are EPA ORD employees, or the spouse or child of an EPA ORD employee, are not eligible to participate. The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with the level of education and experience, as follows: $14.78/hour - for recent graduates with a BS in science or engineering. $17.68/hour - for recent graduates with BS in science or engineering + 1 year of graduate school.
