The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has an immediate need, within the next 30 days, to purchase Ameritec Responders for voice and data transmission line testing. The proposed contract will have an estimated value of $253,000 for the purchase and delivery of one order. This FAA purchase is expected to consist of approximately one-hundred twenty-five (125) Ameritec AM3-4P Stand alones, two-hundred sixty-three (263) Ameritec AM3-4P-PC Cards, seventeen (17) Ameritec Card Files, and seventeen (17) Ameritec Power Supplies. The Ameritec Model AM3 Series Responders provide the capability to centrally test voice and data telecommunications lines without dispatching a technician to the remote end of a circuit, see specifications attached. The AM3 reacts to commands, sent by Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) digits from a central location, by sending over the circuit under test a known signal or sequence of test tones or by quiet termination of the circuit. The FAA must purchase the AM3 Responders from Ameritec for the following reasons: 1. AM3 has been used for 15 years across the U.S. and due to the need for compatibility of new and replacement parts the FAA must use Ameritec responders; 2. AM3 is manufactured and sold only by Ameritec Corporation; 3. Repair and support for the AM3 is officially performed by Ameritec, only; 4. The responders are needed immediately.
