The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order with the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to Co-Sponsor a policy forum on weather and highways. The purpose of the forum is to conduct studies on the transportation system and the weather, which adversely affects the nations surface transportation systems. The AMS promotes the development and dissemination of information and education on the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Additionally, the forum will bring together representatives of weather information, transportation managers, their users and developers as well as policy makers that are knowledgeable about the nations highway. Because AMS will conduct the forum, provide the meeting space and the facilitators they are the only available source to provide this service. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about August 1, 2003.
