NASA/ARC has a requirement for ABAQUS Finite Element Software, which Abaqus is atwo-part finite element solver, Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit, plus apre/post-processing program, Abaqus/CAE, in the same package. The requirements for the Abaqus/ Standard program are:- User-programmable features. For example, definition of special-purpose materialconstitutive relations, elements, or contact behavior using Fortran subroutines, which isabsent in most competing finite element solvers. - Advanced contact algorithms using slave/master surfaces and automatic contactdetection.- Model updating during an analysis using element removal/addition or contact surfacepair removal/addition. - Inclusive set of constitutive models for materials such as elastomeric and crushablefoams, poro-elasticity, deformation plasticity, creep, viscoelasticity, etc.- Direct use of raw test data to fit various constitutive models for creep, viscoelasticity, and hyperelastic material behavior. Abacus/Explicit is a special-purpose solver for high-speed and transient contact/impactproblems, such as ballistic impact and shock loading. The explicit feature for timeintegration eases the convergence of highly nonlinear solutions and discontinuousproblems that are impossible to handle with implicit solvers.NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from Dassault Systemes Simulia Corp. WesternRegion, 39221 Paseo Padre Parkway Suite F, Fremont, CA 95538.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Rachel Jandron at
[email protected] not later than 12:30p.m. local time on 09/23/2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solelyfor the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
