NAICS: 325998 Size Standard: 500 Employees Introduction: Bulk salt is needed to melt ice and compacted snow from the MVAHCS parking areas and sidewalks mitigating slippery surfaces for both vehicles and pedestrians. The MVAHCS estimates salt usage use up to 150 tons of material annually. Objectives: Acquire a contract with a reputable company that can provide Bulk Salt Products and Delivery Services to the MVAHCS. Requesting a contract that provides a Base year plus four option years (5 years total). SPECIFICATIONS: Bulk Salt for De-icing roads at the Minneapolis VA HCS. Must meet the following requirements: Salt must be capable of melting snow and ice down to - 5 ° (negative 5 degrees) Fahrenheit. Size of salt pellets can be no larger than ¼ inch in diameter. Larger pellets will not work in our application equipment. Color of salt must not be white in color. Colored salt helps determine where the application of salt has already been applied. Loads being delivered need to be covered during inclement weather (Rain or Snow).
