This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared inaccordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of
Commercial Items and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This
announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested
and a written solicitation will not be issued.
The solicitation number for this request for quotation (RFQ) is N66001-12-T-
7450. This is a competitive requirement for the following:
Item 1: Sputtering target, Tb purity: 99.9, dimensions: 3" x 1/8",
Backingplate: y, Bonding: SPAWAR copper backing plate, quantity: 1 each .
Item 2: Sputtering Target Dy, purity 99.9 dimensions: 3" x 1/8", Backing
plate: y, Bonding: SPAWAR copper backing plate, quantity 1 each. Please
provide estimated shipping charge if any. Delivery is to San Diego, Ca 92110.
Specifications: The targets need to be induction melted in an Argon
environment to prevent the oxidation of the component materials. The
targets must be 3 inches in diameter and 1/8th of a inch thick. The targets
must be indium bonded to a copper backing plate. The copper backing plate
needs to be three inches in diameter and 0.1 inches in thickness. The post
for the backing plates needs a radius of 0.25 inches and 0.35 inches
long with 1/2 inch 13 UNC threaded stud. The post and backing plate need
to be fabricated out of one piece of copper, it cannot be wielded
together. The sputtering material is to be used to develop a spintronic array
which is an array of bistable elements. In addition, it is going to be
used to develop a multiferroic heterostructure. These array is going to
be used for magnetic field detection as well as for investigations into
the properties of coupled bistable detection elements.
This requirement will result in a firm fixed priced purchase order and will be
awarded to the lowest bidder meeting all the specifications within. This
solicitation is set aside for small businesses. The applicable NAICS code is
331423.
