The Center for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award on a sole source basis a Purchase Order to Caribbean Primate Research Center, Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico for the purchase of twenty four (24) Rhesus Monkeys. The purpose of the purchase shall be to provide for microbicide prevention studies in a Rhesus Macaque Model for HIV transmission. The authority for this procurement is FAR Part 6.302-1. The anticipated award date is August 1, 2004. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination by the government not to compete the proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
