The United States of America Medical research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c), with Covance Research Products Inc., to acquire New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits. Service s are required for the USA Meical Research Institute of Infectious Disease at Fort Detrick. Sole source determination is based on the Governments need for a contractor to supply additional NZW rabbits. Due to the immunization and challenge studies, consi stency in the animals and supplier is required to avoid any unknown variable being added into the current studies. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responsible sources may submit a proposal to include their capabilities to meet the above request with current and past performance information provided. Responses received by June 19, 2006, will be considered by the Government for future requirements. A determination by the Gov ernment not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procureme nt in the future.
