Nosewipe Fabric. The Product Manager- Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-SCIE) at the U.S. Army Soldier Research Development, and Engineering Center, Natick, MA has a need to identify possible fabrics to serve the function of a nose wipe, on winter gloves, that meets the following requirements (previously procured from Spectro Coating Corp., 101 Scott Drive, Leominster, MA 01453). The intent of this market survey is to see fabrics that provide comfort, durability, flexibility, and resiliency when used to wipe the nose in cold weather conditions of approximately -20F to 40 F. Other important performance characteristics include snag resistance, abrasion resistance, colorfastness, tear strength, and have a minimum shelf life of 5 years without being affected by mold, fungus, rot, etc. Results from this evaluation will be used to update the current Military specification. For the purposes of this evaluation only, non-domestic samples may be submitted. However, if selected by the Government for glove application the fabric needs to be manufactured in the U.S. to be compliant with the Berry Amendment (see DFARS 252.225-7012).
