The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition procedures to Thomson Reuters for an electronic resource entitled, Thomson MICROMEDEX. Thomson MICROMEDEX is an on-line medical reference and research database that includes the following modules: DISEASEDEX General Medicine; DRUGDEX; DRUG RELAX; IDENTIDEX; POISONDEX; and DISEASEDEX Emergency Medicine. The period of performance is for 12 months, beginning September 30, 2010 through September 29, 2011. This subscription is only available from its producer/manufacturer and not through dealers or distributors. Pursuant to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302.1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Sources Will Satisfy Agency Requirements for the above-cited on-line medical reference and research database. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely notification of t! he Government?s intent to order this subscription from Thomson Reuters. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response to this notice will not be honored or acknowledged. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purposes of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government does not intend to pay for information provided in response to this publication. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. If no affirmative responses are received within 2 business days, in accordance with FAR 13-106-1(b)(1), a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
