The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to award on a sole source basis, under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (Dollar Threshold of $100,000) a firm fixed price award to Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Tool Division, 8425 Woodfield Crossing Blvd., Indianapolis, In 46250. The contractor shall provide an enterprise wide user license of the MediSpan Master Drug Database v.2.5 for use by all appropriate CMS staff and associate contractors performing work within the scope of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003. The contractor shall provide an initial full file of all legitimate valid National Drug Codes (NDC), including obsolete and three years of inactive drugs currently approved for human use by the Food and Drug Administration. Subsequent maintenance updates shall be provided at least weekly via secure FTP or Connect Direct. The NDC are nationally recognized numbers currently used by the Medicare-approved drug discount card sponsors, commercial insurance industry, and most Medicaid programs as the standard identifier for pharmaceutical products in the adjudication and processing of pharmacy claims.
