The U.S. Geological Survey, Eastern Region GIO, intends to acquire High-Resolution orthophotography on a sole source basis from Michigan Center for Geographic Inofrmation, Lansing, Michigan. The USGS is reacting to a DOD National Geospatial Agency (NGA) request for current orthorectified images to support Homeland Security. The Michigan Center for Geographic Information (MCGI) is uniquely positioned to be the primary geographic framework data steward for Micigan and to be the kdy partner with USGS in acquring and maintaining orthoimagery and other framework data over Michigan. A component of the Geography Discipline's plan for The National Map is to develop long-term partnerships. It is in the interest of USGS and the Homeland Security program to continue working with MCGI. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE.
