The U.S. Geological Survey, National Spatial Data Infrastructure Partnership Office, has a requirement to acquire LiDAR data over portions of 25 counties in Kansas and the Missouri River floodplain for approximately 21,776 square miles at a resolution of 1.4 meters ground sample distance (GSD) and follow the latest version of the USGS Base LIDAR Specification. USGS has the opportunity to obtain all this imagery through the Kansas Information Technology Office, Topeka, KS at approximately 7.4% of the cost of the entire project because other agencies and local governments will contribute the remaining funds for this project. Imagery requirements are as follows: Specifications:Data products include the LAS classified LIDAR data, 1-m Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), 1-m first return DEMs, and the hydro polygon geodatabase. All LIDAR data must meet NSSDA vertical accuracy of 12.5 cm RMSE at the 95% confidence. Horizontal accuracy must be 0.6 meter RMSE at 95% confidence. Tile-based FGDC metadata must be provided for all products. The LIDAR must be collected between December 1, 2011 and March 1, 2012. Anticipated delivery to USGS is July 2012 =BF February 2013. Project Area: 21,776 square milesBased on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-(a)(2), the government considers the item specified as a sole source from Kansas Information Technology Office, 900 SW Jackson Street., Room 751-S, Topeka, KS 66612-1275and proposes to negotiate with that firm only. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services and provide considerable cost sharing are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered a non-response to this request without further consideration. Affirmative response shall be received by this office by close of business December 16, 2011 by 3:00 P.M. Mountain Standard Time.
