The Social Security Administration (SSA)plans to negotiate solely with SafeNet located at 8029 Corporate Drive, Baltimore, Maryland 21236 to obtain 500 PCMCIA SafeNet SmartCard Readers. Social Security Administration currently utilizes IRE’s SafeNet Security Center VPN system to secure remote access communications by means of Internet tunneling and encryption. The system is located in the National Computer Center at 6201 Security Blvd., Baltimore, Maryland 21235. SafeNet is the only known source, which can provide the PCMCIA SafeNet SmartCard Readers which is proprietary. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government will not pay for information submitted in response to publication. This is a notice issued pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 5. This announcement constitutes the only request and a written solicitation will not be issued.
