The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a purchase order to Alpha Innotech located in San Leandro, CA. The purchase order is for the purpose of purchasing FluorChem 8900 MegaPixel Superior Performance Fluorescence, Chemiluminescence, and Visbile Imagin System (Cat# IS-8900-110), AIC Large Format Digital Thermal Grayscale Printer (DTP-2001), Optional Adjustable Tray Kit (ADJ-500FC), 17” Flat Panel Monitor UPGRADE (15-11780), Sybr Green Filter (SYB-500K), Sypro Red Filter (SYPRO-500), Hoechst Blue Filter (HB-500), AlphaEase FC Stand Alone Software Site License (IA-800-SL), Optional Reflective Epi-UV Lights for GFP plate illumination (365nm) for DE-500 (UV-5254-110K), and Optional Relective Epi-UV Light for GFP plate illumination (365nm) for DE-500 ( UV-5365-110K). This instrument is needed to replace a broken instrument. The system will allow CDC to photograph DNA and RNA gels that are ran almost daily. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR part 6.302-1 in that Becton Dickerson is the only known source with the knowledge required to provide this system. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the publication date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
