The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Algor Incorporate, 150 Beta Drive, Pittsburgh, PA to acquire Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. This effort is sole source for the following reasons. The software being acquired is currently being used to conduct Structural and FEA for systems being integrated into the Littoral Combat Ship. To accurately correlate and validate equipment models prior to installation is critical to the smooth design and integration of systems into the LCS. It is critical that all software is consistent throughout the design and integration process. Use of another software to conduct the structural and Finite Element Analysis may introduce new, or change existing parameters that may induce unacceptable errors into the systems being integrated into the LCS. Failure to have accurate models could result in significant damage to the integrated systems and possibly the LCS. It is impera! tive that FEA software is acquired from Algor immediately.
