The Government intends to negotiate a sole source contract to Firearms Training Systems (FATS), Inc., 7340 McGinnis Ferry Road Suwanee, Georgia 30024, to upgrade fielded U.S. Army National Guard (ARNG) Combat Arms Training Systems (CATS) to provide enhanced marksmanship, shoot/don’t shoot and collective training that is compliant with U.S. Army Training Systems Requirement Document (TSRD). The effort will include the development and fielding of kits that will implement the required changes to the fielded units. A twelve-month delivery schedule is required. This contract will be awarded in accordance with FAR 6.301-1, “Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.” FATS, Inc. is the original manufacturer of ARNG CATS and owns the unique proprietary technology. Release of the solicitation is currently anticipated for mid August 2005 with award scheduled for mid Sept 2005. This synopsis is being published for potential subcontracting possibilities.
