The U.S. Geological Survey, Central Region, National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL), located at the Denver Federal Center, Denver CO 80225, has a requirement for the following chemicals: 1ml 4.5N sulfuric acid solution in 3.5mL polypropylene screw cap vials, 4ml 18N (1:1) sulfuric acid solution in 8ml polypropylene screw cap vials, 2ml 18N (1:1) sulfuric acid solution in 3.5mL polypropylene screw cap vials, 7.5-7.7n ultrex grade nitric acid solution in 3.5ml polypropylene screw cap vials, 2ml 6n (1:1) Omni Trace Hydrochloric acid solution in 3.5ml polypropylene vials. 40 ml amber vials for volatiles. The United States Geological Survey (USGS), WRD, NWQL strives to maintain national consistency in the all of the environmental samples collected by their personnel. The scientific-analytical data from these samples is available and presented for use by other agencies and the public. For this reason, the NFSS was established to ensure that all water-quality sample data collection and processing is done using the same, quality-assured (QA) supplies at all data collection locations. Many constituents found in the environment are measured at very low concentrations that require that collection and processing of samples be done using stringent, clean protocols, along with supplies of a known quality so as not to compromise the integrity samples or scientific data. This procedure avoids additional QA costs and maintains continuity with prior analytical data and environmental-sample processing protocols. The U.S. Geological Survey considers this specified requirement as a sole source to E P Scientific Products LLC, 36 E BJ Tunnell Blvd, Miami, OK 74354.
