The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, Tampa, FL, intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Nanosphere, Inc. to provide cost-per-test for nucleic acid test cartridges, for use with the Nanosphere Verigene Processor and Verigene Reader System, a benchtop molecular diagnostics workstation that utilizes patented gold manoparticle technology to detect nucleic acid and protein targets. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1; only one responsible source will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the following Nanosphere item: FDA-cleared Warfarin nucleic acid test, Catalog No. 20-005-002 (1,500 estimated base year quantity). The NAICS Code is 325413 and the Small Business Size standard is 500 employees. To the best of our knowledge, the Nanosphere Verigene System is unique in its features and capabilities. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notice to the Contracting Officer by 3:00 p.m. eastern time on July 16, 2008.
