The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Savillex Corporation, of Minnetonka, Minneapolis, for the acquisition of PFA Teflon Jars with Recessed Lids. *****Sole source determination is based on continuing research projects that began in 1987 during the development of the National Biomonitoring Specimen Bank (NBSB). By changing vendors now, the same results may not be obtained. It would take many years and many analytical measurements before it could be verified that the new jars do not contaminate the sample. Savillex Corporation is the only known vendor capable of supplying the required PFA Teflon Jars. ***Delivery shall be FOB DESTINATION and be completed in accordance with the Contractor’s commercial schedule. ****** The Contractor shall deliver all line items to NIST, Hollings Marine Laboratory, Charleston, South Carolina 29412. ********The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees. ******A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. *****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by June 21, 200 will be considered by the Government.
