Solicitation Number SB1341-04-Q-0796 dated July 28, 2004 is hereby amended to respond to a technical question submitted. Question: Line Item 0001 Specification (2) states that "Instrument shall be directly compatible with the vertical trinocular port of NISTââ¬â¢s existing Nikon Optiphot 2 Optical Microscope." Some instruments attach to a c-mount adapter, which is by far the most common type of adapter that is used with microscope trinocular ports(it's what's used to mount most video cameras, for example.) Does NIST already have the c-mount adapter? Or is this part expected to be included with the system that NIST requires? Answer: The trinocular port is already outfitted with a c-mount adapter, so there is no need to supply one with the instrument. NIST does not want to exclude the possibility of instrumentation that would not need the c-mount adapter and would directly attach to the trinocular port. The current response date, August 9, 2004 @ 3 pm local time, remains unchanged.
