This is a combined synopsis/soliciation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, No supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The North American Industry Classification System Code:811310 and the business size standard is $6.5 million. This announcement constitutes the only soliciation; proposals are being request and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number is RFQ290185 and solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-20. Delivery and acceptance will be at Bethesda, Maryland. The National Institute on Drug Abuse on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke has a requirement for an Ultima Two-Photon Laser Scanning Microscope System to enable our experiments designed to map synaptic and neural circuit pathways, high speed, high resolution imaging and stimulation is required deep inside living brain tissue. The only feasible way to achieve this is dual laser multiphoton microscopy. There is only one commercial source for dual galvanometer (beams are independently scanned) multiphoton microscopes. This technology is essential to achieve the speed and precision of targeted photoactivation required for our experiments. Their patented Acuosto-Optical Deflector (AOD) fast scanning system is the only technology available for imaging with multiphoton light at speeds which are sufficiently fast to follow real time synaptic signaling and, therefore, will permit visualization of neuronal processes that can not be imaged with any other technology. The salient characteristics as follows: 1) Model: U-1001/Ultima-X-Y Laser Scanner for BX61WI, include scan control 2). Pockels II/Pockets Cell ?Scanning. 3). LI-1/Laser Input Optics-Imaging. 4). U-1032/High Speed Optics Set an accessory to the Ultima Scanner to add AOD scanning in place of the X-axis galvo. Includes: AOD with center frequency at 800nm. 5).
