The Department of Veterans Affairs, Atlanta VA Medical Center, has a requirement to purchase of three (3) Opti Rat Rack Assembly, three (3) Opti rat rack option-SE lab, forty-five (45) OptiRat Cage Bottom Assembly, six (6)Exhaust Adapter Plate for research purposes. The racks and caging are consistent with existing caging and are the only racks manufactured that will fit inside our cubicles. The racks will utilize the existing dual cubical exhaust grills located at floor level for direct ventilation to the outside of the building. All VMU staff in the facility are experienced in setting up and operating the racks. The racks and caging will be used to house rats on research projects. All service and care of the racks and caging are performed by VMU staff. The VMU will use existing rack and cage washers to maintain the equipment. Existing flushing stations will be used to flush the water lines to maintain the equipment. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS Rat Caging System must include 42 rat cage assemblies with filters, feeders, cage cards, and water bottles. Rat Caging System must be complex, multiple level and extra cage height to promote natural behavior. Rat Caging System must be lightweight and should weigh 550lbs when rack is full. Rat Caging System must be able to house larger groups and fewer single rats. Rat Caging System must be Ultra-high density. Rat Caging System must contain no motors, blowers, noise or vibration. Rat Caging System must be equipped to prevent release of odors and allergens in the animal room. Rat Caging System must have superior cage visibility. Rat Caging System must be lightweight, easy and low cost to maintain. Rat Caging System must have integrated cage card holder. Rat Caging System must be equipped with components that are available to support specialized model. Rat Caging System must be able to utilized customized accessories; tox floors, J-feeders, water bag adapters & more. Rat Caging System must have optional automatic watering options. Rat Caging System must be able to fit through standard 36" door with cages removed. The vendor must be able to provide a product brand name or equal to the above. Performance Period: Anticipated delivery within 90 calendar days of award, unless otherwise specified at time of order.
