The Department of Veterans Affairs Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is seeking sources to purchase a state-of-the art portable Radionuclide Identifier based on a High Purity Germanium detector for the SAVAHCS, Tucson AZ. If qualified sources can't be identified the Government intends to negotiate a firm fixed price purchase with Canberra Industries Inc. for a Falcon 5000 Portable HPGe-Based Radionuclide Identifier on a sole source basis pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source will satisfy SAVAHCS requirements.
NRC and NHPP mandate the use of accurate and detailed procedures to measure radioisotopes. The portable detector must be a NRC approved system for gamma spectroscopy measurements needed to identify isotopes. The system must provide one stop access to all Radiation Safety Isotope records for continued compliance with NRC tracking radioactive materials criteria and standards of practice for radiation safety.
All responsible sources who feel they can comply with requirements are invited to submit information of such. Response must be received prior to COB (4:30 PM AZ time) on September 2, 2011. This notice is not a request for quote. The information provided is for market research purposes to determine if a competitive procurement can be accomplished. Responses received will be evaluated; however a determination by the Government to proceed with the intent to negotiate sole source procurement with Canberra Industries, Inc. will be at the Government's discretion.
