***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Hypres, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) 10 Volt Voltage Standard Chip.
*** This equipment must be completely compatible with the existing Josephson Voltage Standard (JVS) system. The 10 V Josephson array is a key component of the JVS system. The existing array has degraded over the years and the performance is marginal and may fail at any time. Josephson arrays have been used to maintain and disseminate the national volt at the Voltage Standard Lab in NIST, Gaithersburg. The only source to obtain this critical Josephson array is from Hypres, Inc.
***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 8 months after receipt of order.***
***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334413, and the size standard is 500 employees.***
***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 18, 2005.***
A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
